The CalorieKing Calorie, Fat & Carbohydrate Counter 2010

A great resource to keep handy for counting carbohydrates both at home and on the go!

Cracker Barrel

While vacationing in Florida we decided to have dinner at Cracker Barrel.  Many people kept recommending Cracker Barrel to us so we tried it and we were very pleased with the service and quality of food.  Their motto is "Good Country Cookin' for travelers and neighbors alike".

The menu offers low carbohydrate choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  I went to the website and checked out the different meals for kids and was very pleased. They have more than 570 locations in 41 states and they are continuing to open up new locations.

Once in the restaurant we enjoyed looking over the menu with the kids and they were able to pick something from the low carbohydrate section.  This made the dining experience much easier.

Open Sunday-Thursday 6a.m.-10p.m.  Friday & Saturday 6a.m.-11a.m.  Breakfast served all day. FYI they serve only 100% pure maple syrup and as a Vermonter that's music to our ears.  1 Tbsp=13.25 carbs.

Gluten Free Menus

Good news for those on gluten-free diets. The Legal Seafood Restaurant chain, Outback Steakhouse (top selling chocolate dessert now gluten-free) and P.F. Chang China Bistros, to name a few,  now offer gluten-free menus.

Gluten-Free Grocery Shopping Guide

This easy to use 4.5" x 6.5" book is a list of over 30,000 gluten-free alphabetized products. Popular brands like Heinz, Kraft, Del Monte, Frito Lay, as well as supermarket chains, such as Kroger, Wal-Mart, Publix, Safeway, Walgreens, and more. Just pick a product, look it up, and all the gluten-free brands are at your fingertips.

Diabetes Resources & Help

There's a wealth of information about type 1 diabetes out there, but it's not always easy to find. Diabetes Camps? Blogs and websites? Products to help you manage your children's diabetes? We’re just getting started, but here are a few resources we've found helpful as we learn each day how to help our children manage their diabetes. Have a favorite or helpful information parents could use? Please submit it to us and we'll add it!
