- What Makes You Laugh
- The random things Cameron (age 3 1/2) says on a daily basis! Watching Cameron and Logan (10 months) play together. Sitting down on a Sunday night to watch 'America's Funniest Home Videos'.

- We are big fans of the New England Patriots. We love to snowmobile in the winter and travel to Maine in the summertime!
- What Helps You Get Through
- The smiles and giggles from Cameron and Logan!
- Favorite Meal
- Cameron's favorite meal is "Cheesy Noodles!" Because it's delicious...
- Helpful Resources
- Our Endocrinology office at Childrens Hospital at Dartmouth. The nurses are fabulous and make me feel confident in decision making when adjusting insulin/carb ratio's. My tip: expect the unexpected. Cameron's numbers baffle me constantly. Instead of getting frustrated I just roll with the punches and put forth my greatest effort to keep him within range!
- Question for Everyone
- What changes have you made to your diet since diagnosis? Also: to pump or not to pump? That is a question I ask myself daily!
- Diabetes Camp
- Not yet. Cameron is still too young...
- Vacation:
- We go camping in Maine in July/August. We have yet to have our first vacation since Cameron's diagnosis.

Todd Senters Feb 14, 2010 (2 years ago)Our son was diagnosed in October 2007 at 18-months old. We waited one year before going on the Ping pump. Having been on the Ping for a year and a half I can tell you it stands up to everything a toddler can dish out. We LOVE the remote control insulin delivery. We had no problem finding the right settings even for a 2 year old. It has made a world of difference, even with the site changes and priming. It was absolutely the right decision for us. tsenters@gt.rr.com

Laura Houston Jan 28, 2010 (2 years ago)My son was dx on 9/17/09 just a few days before yours. My son was dx at 14-months and we start pump training next month! I cannot wait to have the freedom that comes with pumping. We are scared of the change but hey - we've survived so far - right?
It is always nice to connect with other D-moms! -
Michele Jan 27, 2010 (2 years ago)I have a 4 year old who wad diagnosed at 2. We are still doing shots. I personally think each child is different and I don't think my little guy is ready for the pump. We have been doing the shots since our son was diagnosed 2 years ago and it works for us. We have had a ton of growth spurts and I worry that the pump would throw him into a hyperglycemic episode. So for now we will give shots. Goodluck and god bless you and your family.

Kim K. Jan 27, 2010 (2 years ago)We love the pump. Absolutely love it. It is more work yet the freedom it gives you is wonderful! My son is so glad to get away from all those daily needles. Hang in there. I think a cure will be here very soon.

Tina McKay Jan 26, 2010 (2 years ago)Hello Pixley family. Yes pump! It is life changing. It gives the kids more freedom to eat especially when he will be attending school and having parties. It is too hard to tell a 4 year old that they cannot have the treat because they are a diabetic. We got to the point when doing shots that my kids would take an extra shot just to have a treat. That stunk! When we went on the pumps that all went away. I have 4 children and 3 are diabetic. They all pump! Brandon has been a pumper for 10 years and the girls for 7 years. The cons of pumping is ketoacidosis. It can happen quickly. It also takes a while to get adjusted to the new routine. I would give it 3 months to get used to it. I just encouraged the kids to keep up with it even though it was hard. Now the pumps are truly a part of their bodies. They would not ever think of being without it. Good luck!
