Denise Dec 15, 2009 (2 years ago)I can relate to the meal planning.. I have a child that will not eat meat and is not a veggie person either, she has Type 1 and I find it hard to get all the needed nutrition in her with her VERY finicky self. I have to plan all her meals and take them with us when we go out to dinner to make sure that she gets all the required carbs and nutrition...

Trisha Dec 15, 2009 (2 years ago)Restaurants are a challenge, my daughter was diagnosed at 18 months and is now almost 5. My favorite tool has been my iphone. I have a restaurant app that includes most of the places we go, and I can always go to calorieking.com which is my go-to site. For me its not just about having a trendy phone its about having vital info for my daughters ...

JoNell Dec 15, 2009 (2 years ago)I make one meal for everyone; if a family member doesn't like what's for dinner, they are stuck!
Usually there is something that everyone likes -- for example,I have a daughter who hates pasta of any kind, but she loves salad. So, when we have spaghetti or manicotti, etc. she has a big salad.
I have two kids with Diabetes, but that doesn't change my meal plan. It used to, in the "old days" 11 yrs ago when every meal carb count and insulin dose was set by the endo. But with Lantus/humalog.. no more!
