- Where do you live?
- Spencer, Indiana
- What Makes You Laugh
- Dad is the "life of the party" in our family. He always acts crazy and makes sure we are not taking life too seriously. He particularly likes to embarass me (mom) in stores. . . The boys like to get in on that too!
- Favorite Sports Team
- As small business owners in the diesel truck industry, we like to spend our spare time souping up our vehicles and also riding our ATVs!
- What Helps You Get Through
- This website, its Facebook page and new Facebook friends who are also parents of diabetics have been a great source of support, and help us not feel so isolated and alone. It also helps to have a close family member who also is T1.
- Favorite Meal
- Reece's favorite snack is homemade diabetic cookies made from almond flour because, according to him, they "are the best tasting cookies you have ever made, mom" and they don't affect his blood sugar, even after 3 or 4 cookies!
- Helpful Resources
- The internet search engines in general have been a wonderful source of diabetic recipes and wonderful sites like this one. Also, Facebook is a great resource for getting quick, helpful advice and new friends!
- Date Diagnosed
- May 2010
- Question for Everyone
- What do know now that you wish someone would have told you when you were first diagnosed?
- Diabetes Camp
- Not yet . . . Hopefully this next year
- Vacation
- We haven't been on vacation yet since his diagnosis. We will be going to visit family out of state for Christmas.

Gayle Sep 17, 2011 (8 months ago)I too would love love love to have your cookie recipe! My granddaughter is 8 and was diagnosed August 26, 2011. I have made it my mission to provide as many menu items that will make her smile, and your cookies definitely sound like the trick!

Natalie Jan 4, 2011 (1 year ago)The one thing I wish I'd been told was how my daughter having diabetes was going to change the relationships around me. The really important ones such as with my husband and other children. My parents, in-laws, you get the picture.

Karen Smith Dec 29, 2010 (1 year ago)They didn't tell me to wake up in the night to check my daughters blood sugar. One night she woke me up and her blood was 56 she said she was shakey. Now I always check at around 3:00am. Her blood has been low several times (one time it was 36).

tricia brandt Dec 29, 2010 (1 year ago)we also have a Reece, and he is now 9, he was diag. at age 7. It was a total shock.. but we deal with it daily as a family and you will get through it together. I am so proud of how brave and strong he is everyday!!! He is now on a pump and for us it makes life easier. We always worry as "moms" but I know that with all that is out there.. we pray for a cure!

Tasha Dec 29, 2010 (1 year ago)Emlacreme - for A1C's, it numbs the skin, and the
Shotblocker - it confuses the skin so you don't feel the needle going in!! -
