Karen Feb 27, 2010 (2 years ago)To answer the question, no I don't think there is specific time period for getting on the pump. Each child and doctor are different. Be sure to do your homework before inquiring about pump therapy and which pump is the right choice for your family and child. I think the long term effects are similar to those of injections. You will still have ... See More rotation, however with pump infusion sites they must be changed every 3 days to prevent infection. Each pump company will get you a wealth of information about their products and some will come to your home to demonstrate them for you!

Sarah H Feb 23, 2010 (2 years ago)My Skyler loves beef jerky for a snack. Celery and PB got old quick. She came up with her own called bologna pizza with Pb on bologna gross i know. We gave up on all protien snacks after a while and if she wants a snack with carbs she knows shes going to have to have a shot for it.
We are counting carbs so shes not on a certain number of carbs or insulin per day. It gets easier soon you will know the carbs for every thing you have in your house.
