- Where do you live?
- Dunedin, Florida
- What Makes You Laugh
- We laugh the most when we all get together and pretend we are on American Idol and mom gets to be the judge of all the kids performing in the living room.
- Favorite Sports Team
- Our family is very active. We love all sports. Daulton, 12 (big brother) plays on an AAU baseball team so we enjoy traveling as a family to watch him play
- What Helps You Get Through
- Keeping our Faith and lots of prayers and just being thankful for our family
- Favorite Meal
- Steaks on the grill because our family LOVES to grill out together especially since we live in Florida, we can do it very often
- Helpful Resources
- My biggest resource initially was from a wonderful woman/mentor Bridget Tepper who has a daughter diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes also. My most helpful tip to any parent is to find a mentor. We have also been connected with ADA, and reading articles through the new USF program "Bringing Science Home" that Nicole Johnson has become the creator of! An awesome program!!!

- Question for Everyone
- Do you think the insulin pump is much better than injections?
- Diabetes Camp
- Not yet but hopeful to attend next summer as we have heard great things about it
- Vacation
- We go to Lake Sinclair every year for a week to go boating/jet skiing. We haven't been since Caitlyn was diagnosed so have no tips on managing her Diabetes while on vacation yet. I don't think it would be any different from being at home other than just making sure you have EVERYTHING you need.
- Question For Team
- How close are we to finding a cure?
- Question For Us
- Am I being too over protective as a mother by making sure Caitlyn is supervised at all times???
- What Do You Think
- I think that Diabetes is a "monster" and am hopeful to find a cure one day. I think with lots of love, support, faith and by the grace of God, we will find a cure.

Melissa HErman Dec 9, 2010 (1 year ago)My son has had diabetes for 5 years and has been on the pump for 2. His numbers are more often in range. He feels better. He has more indepedence. And, it takes less time to "prepare" for meals with the pump. I say that the pump is by far better than injections! My son thinks so too! There is an adjustment period that requires alot of time but it is well worth it!

Scott Zinna Dec 7, 2010 (1 year ago)It is great to see organizations like Bringing Science Home and USF teaming up to focus on Diabetes in the Tampa area. Sounds like a great program.
