- Where do you live?
- Santa Monica, California
- What Makes You Laugh
- Ava says: When Dad tickles me and we play chase and the funny animals at the eye doctor. Isaac says: Max from Max and Ruby. Reggie, the Dad says: My kids, Seinfeld and the Daily Show Elisabeth, the Mom says: Reggie dressing both kids. Together they have an incredible fashion sense.
- Favorite Sports Team
- We love to go to the beach, collect shells and jump in the waves. We also love music. Ava is learning the guitar and even can play Jumpin' Jack Flash by the Rolling Stones.
- What Helps You Get Through
- Lots of laughter and sunny California days
- Favorite Meal
- We love our bedtime snack. Our favorite is 1/4 cup of low fat, double churned strawberry ice cream, 2 organic animal crackers and a dollop of whipped cream. The kids love it because it's yummy and the parents love it because it generally keeps the kids' sugar at a safe level all night.
- Helpful Resources
- Other parents of kids with diabetes have been our most helpful resource. The support and understanding from those who've been through it are invaluable. Sites like this one are also a great source of information compiled in one site.
- Date Diagnosed
- Ava was diagnosed on February 13, 2010 and Isaac was diagnosed on June 18, 2008
- Question for Everyone
- What's the biggest misconception about Type 1 diabetes that you want to clear up?
- Diabetes Camp
- Not yet.
- Vacation
- We love going to Buffalo and Syracuse -- in the summer of course! We have family there and Ava and Isaac have cousins their age. Because of the 3 hour time difference, we start changing the time of the kids' lantus injections the night before we leave each coast.
- Question For Team
- Our 5 year old daughter Ava does not have a lot of fat. She is currently on shots. Would a pump be hard for her because she has less fat. See the answer.
- What Do You Think
- I think I have 2 healthy, beautiful, happy, smart children.

Thank you PDK for your support of our tiny family.
Since we have been introduced to the community of folks with Type 1 life has been much better. Just a few years ago we were a million miles away from the issues of diabetes. After having our only 2 children develop type 1 diabetes that of course changed quickly. We were quickly overwhelmed.
When I try to explain to people unaware of the disease that it can be tough and scary, tedious and relentless, they roll their eyes. But when we met PDK and discovered the thousands of good people with Type 1 or managing a loved one with this disease, it opened our eyes to the fact we are not alone.
