- Where do you live?
- San Diego, CA
- What Makes You Laugh
- Our youngest, Laura, is our entertainment a lot of the time. She gets us laughing until we cry. Emily turning into a "teen ager" is pretty humerous as well.
- Favorite Sports Team
- We have baseball and football on the t.v. a lot. Laura played softball this year and is moving onto soccer. Emily is planning on getting into sports more next year at middle school. We love to go camping every spring and summer and spend as much time outside as possible
- What Helps You Get Through
- Knowing each day is different and taking one day at a time or one minute at a time is good for us. So far "this too shall pass" works in our little world. And we are working on "this is the best day ever" as much as we can.
- Favorite Meal
- We like taco night where everyone can put together what they want... Pizza night with movie night and popcorn goes over well.
- Helpful Resources
- Diabuddies here in San Diego has helped Emily look at the bigger picture with friends that have had diabetes for more than 10 years. Facebook connections with other parents of diabetics has helped me look at the hard days and the good days in a different light.
- Date Diagnosed
- November 9, 2009
- Question for Everyone
- What do you do as a family to get throuh the days when you are just so TIRED of having to manage this thing called Diabetes?
- Diabetes Camp
- No camp yet, just hit the 6 month mark. Signed up for a day camp this summer- we will see how it goes.
- Vacation
- Camping and road trips out of town. We double or triple the supplies just to make sure we can make it... food and water are always with us as well.
- What Do You Think
- Moving onto the pump soon with be a new adventure that I hope goes well with Emily so I might relax a little bit while she is hanging out with her friends...

Christine Jun 16, 2010 (2 years ago)I am lucky enough to have my husband be my back up when I have had enough. We trade off if it gets too overwhelming. We still get up twice a night to check my son's (he's 14) blood sugars. They're too erratic not to. When he's not working, he takes over the night shift. that helps. I'm more likely to get overwhelmed than my husband. He's my rock on this, he really is.
