Flora Allen-Hopson and her son Ray Allen, future Hall-of-Fame guard of the Boston Celtics, are keeping up their assault on Type 1 diabetes. They collaborated on an idea called Ray's $3 for 3, a campaign to raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes and funding for diabetes research and treatment programs at the Joslin Diabetes Center. It's pretty simple: for every 3-point basket Ray drains this season, fans and supporters can donate $3 to Joslin for their research toward a cure for Type 1 diabetes. You can support Ray and Joslin for a month or two, or sponsor them for an entire season. The work Joslin does, particularly its research, benefits all of us affected by type 1 diabetes.
Registration is easy and we'll make it a bit easier: click here on Ray Allen's $3 for 3, and follow the registration steps at the site to get behind Ray.
As it's stated on the Joslin website, season-long supporters will be invited to a post season VIP reception with Flora and you'll automatically be entered in season long raffles and other neat benefits.
We've signed up for a season...and we'll give you a free SlamDiabetes t-shirt pictured here if you're one of the first fifty people to sign up for the rest of the season. Just let us know you've done so, and we'll ship it out to you.
I’m Natalie. I’m a mom of three kids, two with type 1 diabetes. As you know, parenting children with type 1 diabetes is a journey of long nights, lots of work, and seldom much support. There’s not much I can do about your long nights, but I hope our website and blogs offer you some support. I look forward to blogging with you.
