We have two T1D eleven year olds. Often I'm up in the middle of the night checking one or both of the kids blood sugar. Sometimes it's hard to go back to sleep. This poem was born on one of those nights.

A Poem From A Mother Parenting Two T1D Chidren

Tucking you in with the meter nearby

Making my way down the hallway

Blood sugar numbers swirl like a twister in my head

Before the dawn breaks when it's still black as coal

My body jolts awake and I make my way back to you

The meter tells me all is well for a few more hours

I pray He would continue watching over you my sweet

While I settle back down until the dawn breaks
